Ten months after a deadly crash that killed his girlfriend, a Jeffersonville man faces charges for it.
Austin Porter, 19, is accused of reckless homicide as well as four counts of operating a vehicle under the influence in an accident that took the life of his girlfriend, 18-year-old Taylor N. Johnson.
Porter was driving an SUV on Interstate-265 near the 7-mile marker when he wrecked on I-265 in Clark County in February. Johnson was thrown from the vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene. Porter, who was also ejected, was injured in the crash.
The couple’s 11-month-old daughter, however, was found securely strapped in her car seat in the rear of the vehicle. She had no visible injuries, but was transported to Kosair Children’s Hospital in Louisville for evaluation.
Porter tested positive for meth, as well as a mixture of prescription drugs, after the wreck.
