Beginning Monday, Louisville Metro Police will be ticketing drivers who leave their cars idling.
This week, drivers will only get warnings. Louisville Police said drivers will be ticketed whether cars are being warmed up or left running in a gas station.
As temperatures fall, police see a jump in car thefts, many with keys still inside. Police said push-to-start vehicles are also an issue. Car thefts are up in metro Louisville, as well as thefts from cars.
Louisville Metro Police said 60 guns were stolen from unlocked cars so far this year in just one of its eight divisions.
