Emergency crews responded to a single vehicle accident in Grayson County Tuesday (11/29) afternoon.
The Grayson County Sheriff’s Department, Leitchfield Fire Department and EMS responded to the 2600 block of Beaver Dam Road around 3:30 pm. When crews arrived at the scene, they found that 68 year-old Karen Hite of Caneyville, had been traveling west on Beaver Dam Road in a Kia Soul. As she approached a curve, police said the sun temporarily blinded Hite, resulting in the Kia leaving the roadway. Hite then drove down an eight-foot rock embankment where the vehicle struck a railroad track tie before coming to rest on the tracks.
Hite, who was wearing a seat belt, complained of chest pain and was transported by EMS to Twin Lakes Regional Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries.
A railroad official inspected the tracks at the point of collision and deemed the area unaffected by the impact.
