Grayson County first responders were alerted to a report of a 17-year-old autistic male walked away from his home, and had not been seen in about an hour.
At the time of the call, around 8:40 pm CST Thursday (12/15) temperatures were brutally cold in the mid-teens. The Grayson County Sheriff’s Office, East Grayson Fire Department and Grayson County Emergency Management went to the home of the missing boy, in the 4100 block of St. Paul Road, in Tar Hill. Within minutes responders called for additional units to assist with search.
After being briefed on the description of the boy, a large group of volunteers and responders enhanced the search for him. Around 10:35 pm CST, the boy was found safe about five to six miles from his home. Grayson County Emergency Management Director Tony Willen said, “I’m very pleased with the cooperation shown by all of the fire departments, search and rescue and law enforcement. It was really phenomenal the way everyone worked together to find this young man.”
