Emergency crews in Grayson County responded to a single vehicle accident that caused a power outage near the Leitchfield town square.
Just before 9 pm CST, a older model Toyota Corolla, being driven by James Rich, of Leitchfield, struck a utility pole, snapping it off at its base in the 100 block of west Main Street in Leitchfield. The impact of the collision caused utility lines to be knocked down causing a power outage around the area of the accident scene. the car traveled about twenty feet with the pole and a street sign on it’s top.
Rich was treated at the scene and taken to Twin Lakes Regional Medical Center by Grayson County EMS with non-life threatening injuries. Rich was cited for DUI by Leitchfield Police.
West Main Street was shut down about four hours while utility crews worked to restore power.
