
Members of Meade County Fiscal Court discussed and approved a interlocal agreement with the City of Muldraugh which will aid improvements to the county’s emergency services.
During their the regular meeting Tuesday (7/11) night, Meade County Fiscal Court unanimously approved the agreement which will place a auxiliary 911 center at Muldraugh City Hall. One of the rooms of in the city hall building has been renovated to meet the needs of equipment and service provisions needed to create the backup 911 call center. In the agreement the county is providing the upfront expenses to create the space and then will pay the city $500 a month after the time of upfront costs have been used. This auxiliary center is part of a larger plan to update radio communications of emergency services across the county. Meade County Judge Executive Gerry Lynn said the project was a undertaking that is expected to improve radio service for the police, fire and EMS across the entire county.
The plan comes after an extensive study of the county’s radio system that proved reception issues in Brandenburg and in the Flaherty area. The new simulcast system is expected to resolve about eighty percent of the current radio issues. The interlocal agreement was introduced and discussed with the Muldraugh City Council during the regular meeting on Monday (7/10) night. The City Council is expected to discuss and take action at a future meeting.
In other business, the court accepted a $1,500 donation from Stull’s Country Store for the Meade County Animal Shelter. Judge Lynn thanked organizers of the Dogs N Suds event which raised the money and said the funds would be set aside to work toward the efforts of building a new County Animal Control Center. Fiscal Court approved requested community contributions that totaled over $27,000 for events and festivals across the county. Magistrates accepted the Detention Center year end financials and the year end financials of Fiscal Court.
After a twenty minute closed session to discuss personnel matters, Fiscal Court approved the creation of a Program Administrator at the Detention Center. They also approved a temporary hire to immediately fill a vacancy as of Wednesday (7/12).
