
An overnight high-speed chase in Hardin County has led to the arrest of an Elizabethtown man on multiple charges.
Elizabethtown Police saw a white 2000 Lincoln Town Car attempt to make a turn from West Dixie Avenue onto St. John Road around 1 am Thursday (8/30). The driver briefly lost control of the vehicle while making the turn and spun sideways across the road before rapidly accelerating with screeching tires
The officer initiated a pursuit, the car sped off going west on St. John Road until reaching Ring Road. The police report said the Lincoln slowed down as it approached Ring Road before going through a red light and continuing on St. John Road. When the vehicle reached the 3500 block of St. John Road, the driver lost control and left the roadway with the car rolling several times before coming to a rest on the passenger side.
Tony Cloyd, 27, is charged with first-degree fleeing and evading police, third offense driving under the influence of intoxicants and reckless driving after leading an Elizabethtown Police Department officer on a chase where speeds reached more than 100 mph, according to authorities.
Cloyd was taken to Hardin Memorial Hospital for treatment of minor injuries and then arrested. He was lodged in the Hardin County Detention Center.
