Meade County Fiscal Court unanimously approved keeping the motor vehicle and watercraft tax rates at the current rate during their regular monthly meeting Tuesday (8/11) night.
The court acted without any discussion approving the 2021 motor vehicle and watercraft property tax rate to remain at 13.400 cents per $100 of assessed value. The court also approved the appointments of Stephanie Hardin to the Meade County Fire Protection District Board of Trustees and Travis Scott to the County Library Board. Magistrates voted accepting the County Attorney excess fees of $80.22. In other business, Fiscal Court discussed and approved a short lease agreement between the county and Kentucky One Health for the change over of the local medical facility to be acquired by Baptist Medical Group Inc. County Attorney Jessica Brown Roberts told magistrates that the agreement would be short term and that the property should be quit deeded to the new owners to regain property taxes since the original 20 year agreement had expired.
Magistrates approved the purchase of three Mack trucks for Solid Waste and Recycling Center along with seeking bids for the financing the trucks. The court also reviewed and accepted the lowest received bid from Baker’s Waste Equipment in the amount of $34,178.64 for 4 30 yard and 4 40 yard steal roll off boxes. The court also discussed and approved seeking a four year renewal of an interlocal agreement between Meade County Solid Waste and the City of Irvington. The agreement would allow Meade County to take control of equipment valued around $200,000 and be used to continue the recycling program for the city. The agreement will be presented to city leaders for their consideration.
Fiscal Court approved the first reading of a ordinance amendment establishing solar energy systems to the county Planning and Zoning ordinance. Court tabled the adoption of a local HVAC ordinance, until paperwork can finalized by the state to allow the county jurisdiction for a local permitting.
