
Fire officials confirm one person is dead after an oil tank explosion in Muhlenberg County Monday morning.
According to the Greenville Fire Department, just after 8 a.m. Monday, fire officials received a call for an oil well explosion at the 2300 block of Highway 853, just before the Teddleton Lane intersection.
Fire officials say they arrived to find two oil tanks had exploded with heavy fire showing. Fire suppression was started upon arrival, and was extinguished with 275 gallons of foam and 12,000 gallons of water.
Fire officials confirm one adult male was located 100 feet from the oil well, unresponsive with no pulse.
The adult male was transported to the hospital where he was later pronounced dead by the Muhlenberg County Coroners Office.
Fire officials also say a second adult male was transported to the hospital for respiratory issues.
