Kentucky has one of the highest rates of child abuse in the country, according to the latest national report.
About 14 of every 1,000 kids in Kentucky experienced some form of abuse or neglect in 2023.
This week “Prevent Child Abuse Kentucky” hosted its policy awards to honor those who are working to keep children safe.
Governor Andy Beshear spoke at the event and said criminals are constantly finding new ways to prey on kids and the state’s laws must keep up.
Beshear said they are online, on social media and trying to connect to kids over gaming devices where you can speak. They are also trying to do it sometimes in person.
