Louisville Metro Police have announced the arrest of a man in connection to a fatal stabbing earlier this month.
The fatal stabbing happened on September 14. Police found a woman dead with her throat cut at her Valley Station home.
Louisville Metro Police Department said on September 27, they arrested 60 year-old Eugenio Santoya Sanchez and charged him with murder-domestic violence, strangulation, and tampering with physical evidence.
Police said they found surveillance video showing Santoya Sanchez coming home prior to the time he told investigators. Additionally, police say Santoya Sanchez was the only person and his was the only vehicle to stop at the home from the last time the victim was known to be alive until he later arrived on scene again and called 911.
According to court documents, the investigation also showed that the last time the victim was active on social media corresponds with the time Santoya Sanchez is seen on video arriving at the home.
The same surveillance video allegedly shows Santoya Sanchez crossing the road twice before placing something in his trunk before leaving.
Police said they were able to identify Santoya Sanchez by comparing the surveillance video of him arriving at the home a second time about 45 minutes after the first, in the same vehicle and in the same clothes. He was also reportedly interviewed in the same clothing he was seen wearing on surveillance and had a large cut on his left hand.
Santoya Sanchez and the victim were married, according to police.
Santoya Sanchez is expected in court on Monday, September 29, for arraignment.
