
Two men were arrested for stealing copper wire from the interstate on Saturday, according to Louisville Metro Police.
Officers responded to a call of a copper wire theft in progress near Interstate 65 and Interstate 265 on Saturday, September 27.
At the scene, the officers established a perimeter and conducted a sweep of the area. Two men were found while actively stripping and burning infrastructure wire to hide its identity.
The suspects, 43-year-old Daniel Bentley and 54-year-old Robert Kelly, were both arrested and are being charged with criminal mischief and trespass of a key infrastructure. Additionally, Kelly is also being charged with possession of methamphetamines.
According to Louisville Metro Police Department, both suspects admitted to taking the infrastructure wire with the intent to scrap it for profit.
Arraignments are scheduled for Monday, September 29, for both suspects.
