People using Kentucky WIC will still be able to use their WIC cards during the shutdown to purchase WIC-approved foods.
Stores will continue to be able to process purchases and Louisville Metro Health and Wellness encourages families to keep their WIC appointments and stay in contact with their WIC clinics.
In an update, Louisville Metro Health and Wellness said Kentucky WIC is in frequent contact with its federal partners at the US Department of Agriculture and WIC is monitoring the situation and doing everything to ensure continued services to Kentucky families.
Louisville Metro Health and Wellness said Kentucky WIC will provide as much notice as possible of potential impact to local participants, agencies, vendors and WIC partners as more information becomes available.
