A road rage incident in Elizabethtown landed a Louisville man in jail early Saturday morning.
On October 4 around 2:41 a.m., Elizabethtown Police officers responded to East Dixie Avenue between the Town Square and Steel Drive to reports of shots fired involving a black 2016 Lincoln MKZ occupied by three adult victims.
The suspect, later identified as 28-year-old Kevin Felix, of Louisville, was driving a white Toyota 4Runner.
The victims reported that Felix pulled out in front of them, causing them to brake abruptly. A road rage encounter followed, during which the suspect motioned for the victims to pass. As the victims’ vehicle passed and continued southbound on East Dixie Avenue, the suspect fired a shot through their rear windshield with a .38 caliber revolver. The suspect then drove alongside the victims’ vehicle on the passenger side and fired two additional rounds. Investigators located one bullet hole in the passenger-side rear area of the victims’ car. None of the occupants were injured.
Elizabethtown’s Flock safety camera system and other city surveillance cameras were instrumental in identifying the suspect and his vehicle during the investigation.
Under circumstances that demonstrated extreme indifference to the value of human life, the suspect’s actions created a substantial danger of death or serious physical injury to the three victims. The suspect was also determined to be a convicted felon. Felix has been arrested and charged with three counts of wanton endangerment 1st degree-discharge of a firearm and possession of a handgun by a convicted felon.
Felix was lodged in the Hardin County Detention Center where he is being held without bond. He is scheduled to appear in court on Monday, October 6.
