A man has been arrested in connection to a shooting that left a teenager in critical condition, according to the Louisville Metro Police Department.
Robert Charles Womble III, 38, has been charged with assault, tampering with physical evidence and possession of a handgun by a convicted felon. The charges stem from a shooting that happened on November 5 in the 1100 block of Royal Gardens Court.
Louisville Metro Police Department said the incident began when the victim was in an apartment’s common area, and Womble came in and started an argument. Womble then allegedly got a gun and fired multiple shots at the 19-year-old, hitting him once in the back.
Police said Womble fled the scene in a car and got rid of his gun. He then allegedly returned on foot and told police he was there when the shooting happened.
The teenager was taken to UofL Hospital, where he was initially in critical condition. Police said that while he is still receiving medical care, he is expected to survive.
Womble was arrested on November 13. He pleaded not guilty to the charges and is being held in the Louisville Metro Department of Corrections on a $100,000 bond. He is expected back in court on November 24.
