A 7-year-old girl died after a hit-and-run crash in the Iroquois neighborhood Sunday afternoon.
Madison Marie Fisher, known to her family as May May, died at the hospital after the multi-vehicle collision on Taylor Boulevard near Iroquois High School. Her grandmother was also injured in the crash and is recovering in the hospital with broken bones.
Louisville Metro Police Department said a car traveling north on Taylor Boulevard at high speed ran off the shoulder and hit a utility pole. After hitting the pole, the car continued across all lanes of Taylor Boulevard and struck a southbound vehicle carrying Fisher and her grandmother.
The impact caused the second car to hit a third vehicle that was parked off the road, according to police.
Police said both the driver and passenger of the vehicle that caused the crash fled the scene before officers arrived. Louisville Metro Police later arrested a juvenile male driver but the passenger remained at large as of early Monday evening.
