A Bullitt County man wanted on child sex crime charges turned himself in to police on Monday.
In November, the Bullitt County Sheriff’s Office asked for help finding 48 year-old John Kevin Taylor.
According to court documents, Taylor was wanted on an indictment filed October 15 for three counts of possessing or viewing matter portraying a sexual performance by a minor.
The sheriff’s office said Taylor turned himself in Monday. He was booked into the Bullitt County Detention Center on the indictment, where he is being held on a $100,000 cash bond following his arraignment Tuesday where a not guilty plea was entered for him. His next court appearance is scheduled for Feb. 2.
The indictment came months after he was arrested in April on a separate indictment for several charges, including sexual abuse of a child under 12 years old and possession of child pornography.
According to a redacted copy of the investigative report on the October 15 indictment, the sheriff’s office said it began investigating in March after one of Taylor’s employees reported finding “obscene images of a young female on one of the accounts associated with her employer.”
Taylor was arrested April 15 and an indictment was filed April 16 for two counts of possession of child pornography, tampering with physical evidence and sexual abuse of a child under 12 years old. Court records show he posted a $75,000 cash bond on April 24.
At the time of his arrest in April, investigators executed a search warrant on the vehicle Taylor was driving at the time of his arrest. During that search, they found two of his cell phones. Another warrant was served at Taylor’s business, where two more phones were collected.
Investigators said they found nude photos of the victim on one of Taylor’s cell phones. His wife, 43-year-old Michelle Taylor, allegedly tried to stop investigators from searching the phone.
She was indicted April 16 on charges of distribution of child pornography and complicity to tampering with evidence and also taken into custody on April 15. Michelle Taylor posted a $75,000 cash bond on April 19. Her sentencing is scheduled for December 30.
