A man is being held at Louisville Metro Corrections on charges that he intentionally set a fire in an apartment building that caused thousands of dollars in damage.
Brandon Damar Lewis, 39, of Louisville, is charged with one count each of arson and wanton endangerment.
An arrest citation by the Louisville Metro Arson Bureau says the fire happened around 2:15 a.m., December 14, in the 4400 block of Norene Lane.
Investigators say Lewis intentionally set fire to clothing, rags and an artificial tree inside the occupied building. The fire caused about $75,000 in damage.
Arson investigators say the actions of Lewis “caused an extreme indifference to human life.”
During his December 15 arraignment, bond for Lewis was set at $250,000 cash and a public defender was appointed to represent him.
Lewis will be back in court for a preliminary hearing on December 23.
