The suspect in an officer-involved shooting on Bardstown Road has been identified.
According to court documents, 36-year-old Winthrop Taylor was arrested on Friday, December 19, after an officer-involved shooting on Bardstown Road that began with an alleged carjacking.
Taylor is accused of approaching a woman at around 11:30 p.m. with a gun and initiating a carjacking.
Arrest records state that later in the night, Taylor pulled up next to another driver at a gas station before firing at him several times.
The victim fled the scene in his car, prompting Taylor to follow him in the stolen vehicle.
Eventually, the victim found two officers in the 3000 block of Bardstown Road conducting an unrelated traffic stop, and pulled up to them.
As the victim drove up, Taylor fired multiple times at the victim and two officers before fleeing the scene.
After a car chase that concluded with an on-foot pursuit, Taylor was taken into custody.
During questioning, Taylor admitted to driving two separate cars, that had been reported stolen at gunpoint, that night.
Taylor is being charged with attempted murder of a first responder, attempted murder, robbery, unlawful imprisonment, fleeing police and criminal mischief.
During his arraignment Saturday morning, he entered a plea of not guilty and he is being held in the Louisville Metro Department of Corrections under a $150,000 cash bond.
