The Kentucky State Police Post 7 received a call from the Owsley County Sheriff’s Department requesting assistance on Saturday, December 20, just before 2:00 p.m. regarding a woman who was discovered dead inside a home on Left Fork Holly Road in Booneville.
Kentucky State Police troopers and detectives, along with the Owsley County Coroner responded to the home.
The preliminary investigation indicates that 51 year-old Crystal Sexton of Booneville was fatally shot by 55 year-old Cloyd Burkhart of Booneville, after an argument at the home.
Burkhart has been charged with Murder, Tampering with Physical Evidence and Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon and was lodged in the Three Forks Regional Jail without bond.
This investigation remains ongoing.
