A suspect is in custody after a shooting in the St. Dennis neighborhood sent a woman to the hospital, according to Louisville Metro Police.
Officers responded to a call at around 2:20 p.m. of a shooting in the 4500 block of Shelvis Drive on Thursday, December 25.
At the scene, police found a woman who had been shot in her leg. The victim was taken to UofL Hospital by EMS and is expected to survive.
Detectives believe that a male suspect, 33-year-old Dwight Deshawn Gudger, and the victim knew each other and that an altercation between them led to the suspect drawing a gun and shooting the victim.
Louisville Metro Police Department says that Gudger then fled the scene, but was located by police a short distance away from the scene. He was lodged in the Louisville Metro Department of Corrections and charged with Assault, 2nd degree-domestic violence and Terroristic Threatening, 3rd degree.
LMPD’s Domestic Violence Unit is leading the investigation.
