Two people are dead and another is injured after a crash involving a motorcycle in southern Jefferson County on December 26.
The crash happened just after 8 p.m. in the 10300 block of Preston Highway.
Louisville police said their initial investigation, alongside witness statements, showed a motorcyclist was heading northbound on Preston Highway when a car pulled out onto Preston from Maple Spring Drive. That caused the motorcycle to collide with the car and the motorcyclist to be ejected. A third car then hit the two vehicles that had crashed.
The motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene. His name has not yet been released.
Two adults from the other vehicles were taken to UofL Hospital.
LMPD announced Saturday afternoon that one of the adults, an adult in his 80s, who was the driver who was hit by the motorcyclist, died at the hospital. His name has not been released.
The third victim is expected to make a full recovery from their injuries.
LMPD’s Traffic Unit is investigating. At this point, no charges are expected to be filed.
