At around 12:30 a.m. on Thursday, January 1, the victim was brought to the hospital by friends and then transported to University Hospital with injuries that are believed to be non-life-threatening.

Police announced on Thursday afternoon that 35-year-old Flor Orantes was arrested in connection with the shooting and lodged in the Louisville Metro Department of Corrections.
According to arrest documents, Orantes was caught on video by a neighbor’s camera, firing multiple rounds in her backyard, where officers also found four shell casings.
When questioned, Orantes, who initially told officers that she did not know about the incident, confirmed that she had fired the shots in her backyard.
Orantes told police that she was intoxicated and took her sister’s handgun into the backyard, where she fired several times at the fence, in the direction of where the victim was hit while attending a party.
