Historically, Kentucky has had one of the highest addiction rates in the United States, with over one in five adults struggling with some form of drug or alcohol misuse, according to World Population Review.
Kentucky State Police is fighting against the epidemic within the commonwealth with their Angel Initiative.
The program began in 2016 as a proactive approach that allows anyone fighting addiction to seek help. Since then, it has helped more than 200 people by guiding those fighting addiction on their journey to recovery.
Kentucky State Police maintains an open-door policy where anyone seeking assistance may stop by any Kentucky State Police post, and staff will take the necessary steps to find a treatment center.
