
The Kentucky State Police Critical Incident Response Team has been requested to investigate an officer-involved shooting that occurred Tuesday around 4:30 p.m. EST in Fayette County.
The preliminary investigation indicates that officers from the Lexington Police Department received information about an individual with outstanding felony warrants from Forsyth County in North Carolina and attempted to make a traffic stop near the intersection of Alumni Drive and Yellowstone Parkway. During the attempted traffic stop, three Lexington Police Department officers discharged their agency issued weapons, striking the suspect. The suspect was transported to Albert B. Chandler Hospital and remains in critical condition.
A firearm was recovered from the suspect’s vehicle.
No officers were injured during the incident.
The investigation into the incident remains ongoing.
