A juvenile was taken to the hospital after accidentally shooting himself early Sunday morning, according to Louisville police.
Louisville Metro Police Department said around 4:36 a.m. on February 15, officers were called to a report of a shooting in the 1400 block of Standard Village Circle. There, they found a juvenile male with a gunshot wound to the leg. He was taken to UofL Hospital, where he was treated for injuries believed to be non-life-threatening.
Investigators said the shooting was then found to be accidental self-inflicted. LMPD’s Second Division continues to investigate.
This shooting comes just a few weeks after a 14-year-old boy died by accidentally shooting himself.
Just two days ago, on February 13, the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office launched a countywide gun lock giveaway program in response to that shooting, where gun owners, specifically parents, were asked to take advantage of the free program.
