An 80-year-old man died Friday afternoon following a single-vehicle crash on Central City Road in Hopkins County.
The Hopkins County Sheriff’s Office said a call came in at 2:51 p.m. reporting a vehicle overturned in a ditch with a man trapped inside.
The driver, identified as Halbert E. Jones, was stuck in the car when deputies and Anton Fire Department units arrived around 3 p.m.
Jones was extricated using specialized tools and airlifted to Deaconess Midtown Hospital in Evansville, Indiana, where he later succumbed to his injuries.
His death was confirmed by the Vanderburgh County Coroner’s Office.
The crash remains under investigation.
