An Elizabethtown man on Friday pleaded guilty to possessing child pornography and is expected to serve 13 years for the crime.
Billie Rowan Patton II, 45, was expected to stand trial this week, but instead accepted a plea deal for the Commonwealth.
In exchange for a guilty plea, Patton will serve a 13-year sentence on reduced charges.
Patton was indicted on six counts of possession of matter portraying sexual performance by a minor younger than 12, counts one through six; and one count of possession of matter portraying sexual performance by a minor older than 12 but younger than 18, count seven.
Under the deal, Patton will have to register as a sex offender for life.
Assistant Commonwealth’s Attorney Teresa Logsdon on Friday said the offer was fair, claiming that if they had gone to trial Patton could have possibly gotten over 20 years.
Patton will appear in court on April 28 for formal sentencing in his case.
