Kentucky Utilities announced it will be compensating customers who were overcharged after a rate hike.
KU says they charged customers based on the interim increase rate of 11.5%. That began in January 2026 while KU awaited a final decision from the Kentucky Public Service Commission. Regulators later gave approval for a 6.54% increase. Customers will get the compensation in form of credit.
KU said the credit will appear on customers’ bills by April 17, and the amount will depend on how much energy was used during that period. No action is required on customers’ part to receive the credit.
More information regarding the increased KU base rates can be found on their website.
