A caseworker is now facing charges after the Kentucky State Penitentiary alleged she had been seen on security video, engaging in sexual intercourse with an inmate.
According to the Kentucky State Police, the penitentiary contacted the agency Monday, March 16, just after 3:30 p.m. State troopers and a detective responded to the scene.
Law enforcement has identified the employee as 26-year-old Alysta Mathis of Dawson Springs, Kentucky. Based on the preliminary investigation, including a review of the video, Kentucky State Police arrested Mathis.
She is currently in the Crittenden County Jail.
According to Kentucky State Police, she faces charges of 3rd Degree Rape and 3rd Degree Sodomy. Authorities say their investigation is ongoing.
