
A joint narcotics investigation involving the Jeffersontown Police Department, the DEA, IRS-Criminal Investigations, Appalachia HIDTA, and with assistance from the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office led to the arrest of two men and seizure of around 100 pounds of methamphetamine, according to a release.
The investigation led to the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office conducting a traffic stop on a semi in Shelbyville.
During the stop, officials said deputies found around 100 pounds of crystal meth, with an estimated street value of approximately $900,000
Alfonso Garcia Ruiz and Edgar Omar Sotelo Valdez were taken into custody and charged with trafficking in a controlled substance. Both are reported to be from Tijuana, Mexico, according to the release.
Officials believe the meth was intended to be distributed in the Louisville area.
The investigation remains ongoing.
