County is set to see a major investment aimed at boosting tourism in the region.
On Friday morning, Senator Mitch McConnell, along with state and county officials, celebrated the funding of a new agricultural expo center that will soon stand as an entertainment hub in Cave City.
Located right off Interstate 65, a stretch of land that sees thousands of travelers every day, is where Barren County leaders say the future of agriculture and economic growth is about to take shape.
$20 million in federal funding was secured for the agricultural expo center, which will serve as a hub for livestock shows, rodeos and other large-scale community events.
With the area already serving as a tourism gateway to attractions like Mammoth Cave, leaders believe the expo center could keep more visitors and more dollars in the area.
McConnell said the project stood out among many funding requests.
Officials say they hope to break ground on the new project in spring 2027. The facility will sit next to the Cave City Area Convention Center and will be a 3,000-seat venue.
