attorney general and state fire marshal filed a lawsuit against a nonprofit founder, alleging he misused hundreds of thousands of dollars meant for Kentucky and Oregon disaster victims.
The lawsuit alleges Marcus Brooks, the founder of Cascade Relief Team, diverted donations and used them for personal expenses, including travel and entertainment.
More than $300,000 from an American Red Cross grant meant to help people in Western Kentucky recover from tornado damage was not used for its intended purpose, the lawsuit alleges.
The lawsuit seeks to ban Brooks from managing charitable funds in the future, to dissolve the nonprofit and to recover the money.
