A Delta flight departing Louisville Muhammad Ali International Airport Sunday morning had to make an emergency landing after a tire blew out on takeoff.
Natalie Chaudoin, a spokesperson for the airport, said a mechanical issue was reported at 11:30 a.m. immediately following takeoff for a flight traveling to Atlanta.
Footage of the plane’s return to the runway showed a tire had blown out.
According to Chaudoin, the plane landed safely on the East Runway, and there were 101 people on board but not injuries were reported.
The incident closed the East Runway from 11:30 a.m. to 1:15 p.m. while the plane was relocated to the terminal ramp.
An airfield inspection was conducted and four flights were diverted to other airports during the runway closure.
