
Louisville Fire Department crews responded to an apartment fire Sunday morning in the 100 block of Colonial Oaks Court.
Louisville Fire Department was dispatched around 9:47 a.m. after reports of a smoke-filled hallway at the complex. Crews arrived within about four minutes and found smoke coming from a two-story apartment building, prompting an interior operation to locate the fire and search for occupants.
Firefighters brought the fire under control within approximately five minutes of arriving. About 25 firefighters responded.
Officials said the fire was contained to a single room inside one apartment, and no other residents were displaced.
One person died. The occupant of the apartment where the fire started was found deceased at the scene.
The Louisville Fire Arson Bureau determined the fire was caused by smoking while using oxygen, according to Louisville Fire Department.
