
The Kentucky State Police Post responded a collision in the 1600 block of South Dixie Highway in Hart County just before 8:30 a.m. on Monday (05/11).
A preliminary investigation indicates that a horse and carriage operated by Melvin Miller, of Horse Cave, was traveling north on South Dixie Highway. A 2025 Ford F250, operated by 38 year-old John McBride of Munfordville, was also traveling north on South Dixie Highway when it collided with the back end of Miller’s carriage.
A passenger in Miller’s carriage, 81 year-old Sara Miller of Horse Cave, was transported by Hart County EMS to the Medical Center at Caverna, where she was pronounced deceased. Melvin Miller was airlifted to the University of Louisville, where he will be treated for his injuries.
Kentucky State Police was assisted at the scene by the Hart County Sheriff’s Office and Hart County EMS. The investigation is ongoing by the Kentucky State Police.
