A Hardin County teen was arraigned Tuesday in connection with the January shooting death of another teen in Elizabethtown.
Court records identify the suspect as 15-year-old Chasity Nettles, who is charged as an adult in the January 11 shooting death of 15-year-old Katen Atwell.
Police said Atwell and Nettles were in the parking lot of the local Lowe’s with 21-year-old Bryan Harbison, who investigators say the girls met through Snapchat. Police have said it was Harbison’s weapon that was fired.
According to investigators, Nettles admitted she picked up the gun inside Harbison’s vehicle, pointed it at Atwell, and pulled the trigger. Atwell was shot and later died from her injuries.
Nettles remains in custody in Boyd County and is due back in court in July.
Harbison has also been charged in the case. He has a pre-trial conference on Tuesday, May 19.
