A former Jefferson County Public Schools teacher was sentenced to 12 years in federal prison on Thursday for child pornography charges.
Brian Hinds, 52, a former theater teacher at duPont Manual’s Youth Performing Arts School, was arrested on October, 9, 2025, after sending child sex abuse material to an undercover FBI agent.
On Thursday, May 21, Hinds was sentenced to 12 years and seven months in federal prison, followed by 15 years of supervised release, after being found guilty of three counts of distributing child pornography and one count of possession of child pornography. Additionally, Hinds was ordered to pay $26,500 in restitution to the victims of his crimes.
Hinds admitted to sending and receiving the pornography through online messaging apps after a search of his phone revealed that he possessed 3,326 images and 65 videos of child sex abuse. Officials said the investigation did not reveal any Manual students in any of the images or videos.
There is no parole in the federal system.
