
naked man was fatally shot by a Louisville Metro Police officer after allegedly assaulting multiple people Saturday night.
According to LMPD Deputy Chief Ryan Bates, officers responded to multiple calls at around 9:27 p.m. of an assault in the 3000 block of Cromarty Way on Saturday, May 30.
Police were told that at least three people had been assaulted and that EMS was needed at the scene.
Police was then informed that the suspect was running down the road nude.
At the scene, witnesses told the responding officer where the suspect was. The officer then found the suspect, an adult white male, sitting naked in the street.
Bates says the officer ordered the suspect to show his hands multiple times. The suspect then stood up and began to walk towards the officer.
The officer ordered the suspect to stop, but he continued walking, prompting the officer to shoot the suspect.
Backup officers then arrived at the scene and began to attempt medical aid, but the suspect was eventually declared dead at the scene.
In accordance with LMPD’s Critical Incident Timeline, body camera footage from the incident will be released within 10 business days.
LMPD’s Public Integrity Unit is leading the investigation.
