
Walter has pleaded guilty in connection with the deadly crash that killed 10-year-old Jake Luxemberger, according to the Oldham County Commonwealth’s Office.
Court records show a plea offer was filed June 9, after a mediation scheduled for this week.
The murder charge was amended down, and Walter pleaded guilty to vehicular homicide while under the influence, along with several other charges. Records also show he pleaded guilty to first-degree fleeing or evading police.
In September 2023, a Kentucky State Police trooper tried to pull over a vehicle on I-71 in Oldham County around 3:30 p.m. The vehicle did not stop and sped off, according to officials.
During the pursuit, police learned the vehicle had been reported as stolen.
The vehicle took exit 14 on I-71 and hit a GMC SUV that was heading north on KY-329, according to officials. The driver of the vehicle that tried to run was taken into custody and identified as 23-year-old Tymetrius Walter of Louisville.
Officials said a juvenile, 10-year-old Jake Luxemberger, who was in the SUV died due to injuries from the crash. The driver of the SUV was taken to the hospital.
Walter is expected to serve 40 years in prison under the plea agreement, according to the Commonwealth’s Office. Formal sentencing is scheduled for July 1, at 1 p.m. in Oldham Circuit Court.
