Louisville Metro Police arrested Zachary Bailey, on Saturday after officers say he broke into a home and chased a resident with a weapon similar to a medieval flail.
According to a court records officers were dispatched around 5 p.m. June 13 to a report that an unknown man had broken into a home and was chasing the female occupant’s husband with a baseball bat.
When officers arrived, both homeowners were outside and told them the suspect was still inside.
Court documents allege the man forced his way in through a back door after breaking a window and kicking the door in, then threatened to kill the male victim.
Police reported the suspect was armed with a mini bat that had a metal, spiked ball on a chain attached and chased the victim out of the home while swinging the weapon. Officers said the suspect went back inside and later exited the front door, where he was detained.
Investigators said officers recovered the weapon inside the home near the front door and alleged the suspect had the victim’s personal property in his pockets.
Bailey is charged with first-degree burglary and first-degree wanton endangerment. Court records show cash bond was set for Bailey at $50,000. An arraignment is scheduled for 9 a.m. June 15 in Jefferson District Court.
