
Two women and two businesses were federally charged in a Kentucky Medicaid fraud scheme on Wednesday.
Angela Renfro is facing 28 counts of health care fraud, three counts of aggravated identity theft and one count of conspiracy to commit healthcare fraud.
Briana Gosnell is facing 18 counts of health care fraud, two counts of aggravated identity theft and one count of conspiracy to commit healthcare fraud.
Both Renfro and Gosnell, through KLF Company Limited Liability Company and Freedom Center LLC, submitted fraudulent and unauthorized claims to Kentucky Medicaid totaling more than $11 million between 2022 and 2023, according to the indictment. This resulted in more than $10 million in fraudulent and unauthorized claims paid out by Kentucky Medicaid.
According to the indictment, Renfro and Gosnell also used the National Provider Identifiers of clinicians without their knowledge to submit claims.
