On Tuesday, the man who pulled the trigger in the June 2025 killing of Aaron Welker appeared in court, where he took a plea deal that will end in probation.
Aaron Welker was shot in the head in Pioneer Village on June 29, 2025.
Under the plea deal, Kent Russell’s charges were amended from second degree manslaughter to reckless homicide and wanton endangerment.
The Commonwealth’s attorney says it is best way forward, with the evidence available.
Kent Russell will be formally sentenced on August 5.
