Shively police say officers were called to the 3300 block of Fernheather Drive around 2:30 p.m. June 22, for a reported stabbing.
Upon arrival, officers found a woman in her late 20s with multiple injuries. She was taken to a local hospital and is expected to survive.
Police say the suspect, 49 year-old Don Smith, was taken into custody at the scene with help from LMPD SWAT.
Investigators say the two were known to each other, and there is no ongoing threat to the community.
Smith is being charged with First Degree Assault and First Degree Unlawful Imprisonment.
