An 18-month-old child is in stable condition after being hit by a vehicle Sunday in Hancock County.
Deputies with the Hancock County Sheriff’s Office responded around 1:40 p.m. to the 900 block of Fourth Street, near the Poplar Grove Court parking lot.
Kentucky State Police Trooper Corey King said the child suffered multiple broken bones, including a skull fracture and broken pelvis, and was treated for a head laceration.
King said a man was driving north on Fourth Street when the child ran into the roadway.
The child was eventually flown to a Louisville hospital.
Kentucky State Police Post 16 is leading the investigation.
King said there are no criminal charges at this time, and investigators saw no apparent signs of impairment at the scene.
A blood draw was obtained under state protocol, and lab results are expected to take several weeks.
