Louisville Metro police have arrested a suspect in the robbery of an auto parts store in southern Jefferson County.
The suspect, 24 year-old Elijah Jones of Louisville, is being held at Louisville Metro Corrections on a robbery and driving with a suspended or revoked license.
The robbery happened around 12:24 p.m. June 24 at the AutoZone in the 8200 block of Preston Highway. The arrest citation says Jones attempted to leave the store with merchandise he hadn’t paid for. When confronted by employees, Jones raised his shirt and displayed a handgun in his waistband before getting into a vehicle and fleeing.
After getting information from witnesses, police used Flock cameras to locate the vehicle and take Jones into custody. Police located and secured the firearm. The stolen merchandise was returned to the store.
A not guilty plea was entered for Jones during his arraignment on June 25. Bond was set at $10,000 cash. He is due back in court for a preliminary hearing on July 6.
