Adrian King has pled guilty and been sentenced to 30 years in prison for the 2024 death of 15-year-old Dovia Pernell.
Records list a conviction for murder (domestic violence) and multiple sex-crime counts, including promoting a sexual performance by a minor under 16 and distribution of matter portraying a sexual performance by a minor.
Pernell was shot and killed on January 29, 2024, in front of an apartment building across from the Park DuValle Community Center.
On the following Monday, February 5, 2024, Louisville police announced that they had arrested King.
According to court documents, Pernell and King were involved in a relationship.
Surveillance video showed King walking toward Pernell’s home with a handgun, and then the two walking back to his home.
A short time later in the video, King is seen walking without Pernell before a 911 call was made.
Court documents said King posted on social media saying that he was going to kill her. Police said he also posted explicit videos of the two together.
New court documents indicate 22 year-old Adrian D. King entered guilty pleas on July 2 in the case.
The judgment indicates his sentences will run concurrently.
King’s bond was previously set at $750,000 cash, and the court record notes concerns about community safety and flight risk.
