A man was killed after crashing his truck into a tree on Blue Lick Road Saturday evening.
Louisville Metro Police officers were dispatched around 6:15 p.m. on July 4 to the 9900 block of Blue Lick Road on a call of a single-vehicle collision.
Police found a pickup truck that had crashed after the driver, the sole occupant, lost control while traveling southbound, went off the pavement and then seemingly overcorrected, crossing both lanes before hitting a large tree on a nearby property.
Police said the adult male driver was wearing a seat belt. EMS and fire responded, and the man was transported to UofL Hospital, where police said he died a short time after arrival.
On Sunday, July 5, the Jefferson County Coroner’s Office identified the victim as 56-year-old David Stanton.
LMPD’s Traffic Unit is investigating.
Police said no other vehicles were involved.
