One person is injured following an officer-involved shooting in Downtown Louisville Sunday morning.
Louisville Metro Police Department said officers responded to a break-in in progress in the 700 block of South 5th street.
The department said when police were on scene, two suspects attempted to flee on foot.
One suspect was arrested, the other suspect continued to flee.
Police say the fleeing suspect had a gun, and would not drop the gun, after police ordered the suspect to do so.
One officer shot the suspect and the suspect was taken to UofL hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
LMPD Assistant Chief Brian Kuriger said the suspect’s gun was recovered from the scene.
Louisville Metro Police Department is asking any witnesses to contact police with information by calling the tip line at 574-LMPD or online at their Crime Tip Portal.
The name of the officer involved will be released in 3 days, and the body camera video of the shooting will release within 10 business days.
