A 21-year-old is facing felony charges after police say two people forced their way into an apartment building in downtown Louisville and then ran from officers early Sunday morning.
Court records show 21 year-old Nathan Thomas Arnold is charged with first-degree burglary and first-degree fleeing or evading police on foot.
According to the police citation, a caller reported two people in black clothing broke a window and climbed into a ground-floor window at an apartment building in the 700 block of South 5th Street around 12:20 a.m. on Sunday, July 26.
When officers arrived, Arnold and a co-defendant allegedly fled on foot. Arnold was taken into custody after a short chase; his co-defendant, who was armed with a gun, was shot by Louisville Metro Police Lt. Brandon Hogan and taken to UofL Hospital with injuries described as non-life-threatening.
The citation also claims a witness recorded video of the two entering an apartment and security cameras captured them inside.
At an arraignment on July 27, Arnold pleaded not guilty. Court records show a judge set a $75,000 cash bond with conditions including no contact orders and a no-guns order.
A preliminary hearing is scheduled for August 4.
